Our family of four! It had been a long day, but we were still all smiles
Caydens hair was a lot lighter than Madison's. Its crazy because now both of my kids look just like their dad. Every once in a while I see one of my features, but not too often.
Right after he was born and we got all cleaned up, we called my family and they brought Madison up to see Cayden. She immediately fell in love with him, and he definitely recognized her voice. Every time she would lean in towards him, he would open his eyes and stare at her. They already have a special bond to each other.
This one I love just because his eyes are open, and you can see how light his hair is.
Who doesn't love a little Utah football? Chris couldn't pass up the hat when we saw it. We're training him at an early age to be a Ute fan!
We sure do love this little guy and are so happy to have him in our home!

Cayden Griffen Barfuss
Mom and baby are doing great! He is such a good baby so far. He only cried during his bath. Madison loves him, and is already such a good big sister!

The curiosity of little minds...
As much as I like to share fun things Madison says on my blog, the real purpose of telling the stories are more for my sake than anything. Its hard to remember anything, and this is the easiest way to jot them down. So if you are bored reading about my kid, my feelings are not hurt if you stop reading now. (But its a super cute story...)
The other day Maddie and I were talking about the baby in my belly, and she started asking the most interesting questions for a 3 year old to ask. Our conversation went like this:
Madison: Mom, when I was a baby, was I in your tummy?
Lindsey: Yeah sweetie you were, and now baby brother is in my tummy.
M: So whose tummy were you in when you were a baby?
L: Grandma Julie's tummy.
M: When you were in Grandma Julie's tummy, where was I?
L: You were in heaven.
M: With Heavenly Father?
L: Yeah, with Heavenly Father...
**By this point, I am thinking to myself, SERIOUSLY?? Is she really asking these intense questions?
M: Why was I in heaven?
L: Because you had to wait until Mommy was old enough to be a mommy so you could be in my tummy.
M: So where are my babies?
L: What babies?
M: The ones that are going to be in my tummy when I get big enough to be a mommy.
L: Well they are in heaven waiting for you to grow up.
M: With Heavenly Father too?
L: Yeah, with Heavenly Father.
M: Mom, that's so nice of Heavenly Father to babysit!
I was blown away. Blown away at how she was even able to grasp the concept of herself in the future, and the fact that she is thinking of being a mom herself. She is so nurturing, so it makes perfect sense for her to be a mom one day. I am so glad that I get to be her mom!

"Patrick's Day"
So last night as we were getting Maddie ready for bed, she asked me if I knew what tomorrow was. I of course was curious as to what she thought it was, so I said no. She proceeded to tell me that it was St. Patrick's Day. And that we have to wear a green shirt, and if we don't, then someone will give us a pinch. Wow! She really knew her stuff. So I asked her who told her that and she told me Grandma Julie and Grandma Gloria.(my mom and grandma) So this morning, she woke up a few minutes before we had to leave, and her first question to me was, "Mom, is today Patrick's Day?" Seriously? She remembered? So I told her yes it was and that her green shirt was in her bag, and that Grandma Julie would put it on her after breakfast. We went down to my moms, and as soon as we walked in she ran straight to my dad's office, and sure enough he had forgot and was not wearing green... The conversation between them went like this:
Madison: "Grandpa, you know what today is?"
Grandpa: "Um, Tuesday?"
Madison: "No, its Patrick's Day! You have to wear green or else you will get a pinch. And you are not wearing green, so you get a pinch!"
And then she pinched him!! I laughed so hard! What a smartie pants. I love how she calls it "Patrick's Day"
So HAPPY PATRICK'S DAY!!

Good friends are hard to find...
But I have the best ones!!! I am so lucky to have the friends I have in my life! Last night I went to our monthly girls night at Lindsey Forrest's' house. I was super excited to go since the last 2 times I haven't been able to go. So when I got there everyone had brought some food. I felt so dumb, because I didn't even think about bringing anything. Then I walked into the living room and there were presents on the ottoman. Ok, now I really felt dumb. Our friend Kim just had a baby boy 5 weeks ago, and everyone brought her a present. Again I was empty-handed. How could I have forgot to bring Kim a present. Then Kim puts a present on the ottoman, so I told her I wish I would have remembered and brought her a present. She started laughing and told me that they were for ME!! WHAT???? My sweet friends had planned a surprise little baby shower for me and my baby boy. I felt so dumb that I didn't put it together before that, but so grateful for awesome friends who would go to all that work for me! I got some of the cutest clothes, shoes, and the very much needed essentials for a new baby. I wish I would have had my camera. So a huge thanks to the best friends ever! I seriously am so lucky! THANK YOU!!

Calling all mothers....
So as the upcoming weeks approach quickly, I have been thinking about the last minute things that I need before the baby comes. For example, I really should get Maddie's Easter dress, the essentials needed after having a baby, and a new nursing bra. The reason why I say new, is because I hated the one that I had with Madison. It snapped at the top, but it didn't come down very far. So every time I fed her it was a hassle. Not to mention the fact that she was a messy eater, and it seemed like I always ended up soaking wet by the time she was done. So this pregnancy I have been looking for a nursing bra that snaps in the middle instead of at the top. But to no avail! I can't find one maternity store or online that has a center snapping nursing bra. So I need help! If any of you know where I can find a center snap nursing bra, PLEASE let me know! Or if any of you have another suggestion, I am all ears!
THANKS!!
